Dr Mariam Georgette Awatai, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Biography
Dr Mariam Georgette Awatai is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She has developed and maintained a special interest in Feto-Maternal medicine, High risk Obstetrics, Minimally invasive surgery, Medical education and Clinical Governance. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FRCOG). In addition she has been awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, UK ( CCT, UK ). She has attained the PG. Diploma in Advanced Obstetric Scanning from the Royal College of Radiologists and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, UK ( Dip. RCR/ RCOG ) as well as the PG. Diploma for Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists ( DFFP) and attained Membership of the Royal College Obs.& Gyn (MRCOG). She is accredited by the British Society of Gynaecology and Endoscopy for Level II Minimal Access Surgery. She graduated from the University of Lagos, Nigeria with an MBBS in 1990. Dr Mariam Awatai has contributed immensely to the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates with over 33 years of clinical experience in her field.
She has held several senior leadership positions including Head of Clinical Governance and Lead Consultant for Maternal Medicine at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Hospital, Chair Quality Improvement and Clinical Audit, Associate Program Director for Family Medicine at Corniche Hospital, Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Burjeel and Sulaiman Al Habib Hospitals and Medical Director of Dr. Mariam Awatai Clinic in Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai.
Dr. Awatai is a keen speaker and medical educator, author of published papers and has been recognized internationally for her work. She is a keen lover of the arts, outdoors and travel.

Dr. Mariam Awatai is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) and holds the UK’s Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She trained and practised across the UK and UAE, including senior roles at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Hospital and Corniche Hospital, and has since built a practice known for its warmth, thoroughness, and unwavering commitment to women’s health.
